Research: According to our research, there are limited IT courses in primary and secondary schools in Amstelland area, as well even in the whole Netherlands. The private events are mostly paid and not accessible for everyone.
Aim: The goal of the event we want to implement is to provide the youth space to improve their own digital skills, in order to create space for new generation international children (especially those, whose families come from less fortunate backgrounds) with free space to discover new digital knowledge, such as programming, coding. The methodology used is non-formal fun learning. The events will have a great impact on the all young volunteers involved and the target group (children). Apart from the technical skills, these fun-based coding activities will boost confidence of the target group, as the children will have/feel a digital “superpower” that is rare, while programming their own cartoons and games, robots.
The activities are different, according to the different target groups involved in each event we are applying for.
Within these events we will cooperate and use the Logiscool’s certified curriculum that fits major international standards, as well as the proven concept with real social/digital impact. Thus, thanks to these events the target group will be given a unique chance to creatively discover the world of digital coding!
With this coding event we also want to motivate other organisations/youth workers/volunteers in our neighborhood to get involved in such initiatives, promoting digital knowledge and putting efforts together in collaboration projects with impactful outcomes for the target group. We want to promote also unity among different nationalities and intercultural dialogue through digital coding activities.
