P5 Coding

Friends of Cabragh

Descripción The goals of this workshop are to give students a basic understanding of coding and allow students the opportunity to take part in a number of activities including digital stories, games and animations.

Resources used are iPads, Scratch and stand alone computers. The workshop will include demonstrations from the instructors, interactive coding exercises, pair programming and peer teaching.

In an increasingly digital world, it is vital that our students are equipped with the foundational knowledge and confidence to navigate and contribute to technology. Coding offers a fun and engaging way to develop logical thinking, creativity, and problem-solving abilities—skills that are essential across all areas of learning and future careers.

The target group is Primary 5 class (30 children). Some of these children have no access to technology at home and are from a low income household.

Our P5 pupils have shown great enthusiasm for technology and are eager to explore how digital tools work. A structured coding class would not only support the computing curriculum but also inspire a deeper interest in STEM subjects.

REIM will be hosting the event in school.
