Spooky Coding

Cromar Future Group

Descripción We have been challenged by the National Trust for Scotland's Crathes Castle and also Coull Kirk (an ancient community kirk/church) to bring special effects to life for their Halloween events.

It's a fantastic opportunity to focus on "physical computing" - combining creative LED effects, the use of motors, actuators, various sensors and a variety of physical mechanisms to produce special effects to enhance spooky story telling events that will be open to the pubic.

The younger/less-experienced coders will use block-coding on Microbits, the older/more-experienced will use a combination of Python and AI/Vibe coding on RP2040/2350 devices.

We will hold five 90 minute sessions on Monday evenings plus additional “hands-on” sessions for extra building testing and installation.

Participants will have the opportunity to experience the entire design lifecycle from ideation to deployment. They will learn about physical computing, sensors and actuators, as well as assembly of final effects.

They will also get exposure to "real-world" requirements such as ease of use and reliability etc. as well the extra buzz of working on something that the public will see and enjoy
