Description
Rationale
Biscovey Academy, located in St. Blaise, Cornwall (PL24 2DB), serves a community with significant social and economic challenges. Approximately 11% of pupils receive SEN support, and 38% are eligible for free school meals, indicating a high level of vulnerability and disadvantage. The school is committed to its “Dare to Dream” ethos, promoting ambition and success for all pupils regardless of background.
In this context, traditional academic activities—especially those reliant on writing—can present barriers to engagement and achievement for many pupils. Our Coding Club aims to remove these barriers by offering a hands-on, visual, and creative learning experience that fosters success without the need for extensive literacy skills.
