Robots & Drones

Egglescliffe Parent / Teachers Association

Description The event will teach children block coding in a practical way, whilst also introducing them to the concept of language based programming and in particular the Python language. We will use equipment currently owned by the school to deliver the session effectively.
To inspire young children to consider further exploration of coding based activities. They will be sign posted to other events such as app development and Raspberry Pi club.
This event will be aimed at children from the local feeder primary schools, with a focus on disadvantaged children and girls in the first instance as these are groups under represented in the discipline in our community.
The primary schools and the students in their own homes, do not have the equipment which we intend to use, nor the space to carry out the activities. The session will introduce the students to the concepts with an ultimate overall aim of the children being able to code the devices to take part in a competitive event towards the end of the session. The equipment, such as the drones and the robots, will be an exciting way for the children to learn and engage.
