Swan School - Girls Code Club

Swancomm

Description This club will raise the profile of STEM careers for female students in our school. We aim for this club to run for an initial period between September and December 2025, and then review it's popularity and potentially continue it later into the year.

Students will have the opportunity to learn a wide variety of new skills and widen their experience base through:
- Programming micro:bits
- Learning about web technologies through using HTML and CSS
- Visiting Bletchley park and the TNMOC for an educational workshop.

Currently take-up from girls make up less than 20 percent of our GCSE/A-Level Computer Science cohort, and we hope that this opportunity will raise the profile of the subject, alongside providing young people with a wider range of STEM opportunities.

Should the club receive more applications than spaces, we will allocate places to pupils eligible for PP first. We will then select any students with SEND or Young Carers. Finally we will offer places randomly to other applicants.
