Coding for Year 3
We are looking to boost the understanding and participation of young children, especially girls, within the ever important coding arena. 42% of our pupils live in the most deprived 10-20% of Lower Super Output Areas in England compared to 10% on average nationally. We want to deliver a sequence of sessions that will unlock the power of coding to these children by providing them with hands on experiences to build their understanding upon just like they use manipulatives in their maths lessons to support and scaffold their learning. We want to inspire them to get involved and understand that a career in coding is exciting and can be within their reach. We would like to obtain two sets of six BeeBots which help to consolidate learning, inspire and grab the attention of young children, especially girls and those from low income, socially deprived backgrounds who may not have access to these resources at home. I know that these resources would also come in helpful to support our younger learners in our Reception, Year 1 and Year 2.
