Description
At Bude Primary Academy – Juniors, we recognise that computing and digital education are vital for preparing children for the future, opening pathways to opportunity, innovation, and prosperity in later life.
We are fortunate to work with Cognition Learning, a local Community Interest Company that specialises in delivering STEM-focused, hands-on learning. Their bespoke Lego Cognition programme is tailored for primary-aged children and focuses on:
• Computing and programming concepts taught in a child-friendly, accessible way.
• Robotics and hardware-based coding using Lego kits and other specialist equipment.
• Problem-solving, teamwork, and resilience built through creative challenges.
• Equity of access – ensuring children without technology at home can still experience high-quality computing and robotics education.
Sessions are expert-led, engaging, and practical, inspiring pupils to develop a love for computing, while also embedding the key skills of collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity.
This initiative supports the national STEM agenda while meeting local needs: equipping young people in Bude with the digital and problem-solving skills to thrive in a modern economy, regardless of background or circumstance.
We are particularly excited that these opportunities are now available to all of our classes in year 5 and year 6, ensuring the widest possible reach and impact.
