Year 6 Drone workshop

Arno Vale Junior School

Description The software and hardware we will use includes drones and block programming or Swift coding language, (the same tech used to develop apps on iPhone and iPad). The software and hardware used by Hyett Education is not something we have access to in school so will be an unique and hands-on coding experience for our pupils.

Workshop Goals:
To encourage a knowledge of coding
Help pupils understand how to safely use technology
To apply STEM concepts in a real-life situation
Program autonomous drone flight paths
Understand the principles of flight and aerodynamics
Apply coding concepts to physical computing
Learn about real-world drone applications
Follow safety protocols and regulations
Work in teams to complete flight challenges

This workshop will be targeting pupils in Year 6. We will deliver the workshop to the whole class ensuring that all pupils have access to this exciting opportunity, including those from disadvantaged economic backgrounds and ethnic minorities. All workshops ran by Hyett Education are run by experienced instructors, and sessions are tailored to include all children, including those with SEN.
