Woodland Coding, Fourth Year Day2: In Primary School

Autism Support Kilkeel

Description Following on from the Woodland coding events of previous years, this builds on that with a specific robotics and drone focus and a school link: meaning three events, of which this is the second.

Having completed the "Robot and Drone Safari" in Mourne Park woods, Primary aged ASK children will on this day have a further opportunity to code and control robots, this time at the nearby Kilkeel Primary School.

Kilkeel Primary School and ASK have an established relationship. Principal Helena McCabe has confirmed to Flickernet their willingness to host a robotics session which would be for ASK pupils in addition to a number of her own pupils, drawn from Key Stage 2 classes.

With enthusiasm for robotics and an exciting experience undertaken in the woodland on Day 1, the children will then be able to code Kitronik Move Motor robots with MicroBits acting as controllers and receivers. They will follow a session plan similar to this: www.flickernet.net/session5 with the addition of DFRobot Sensing equipment to simulate how robots could transport a sensor cluster from one location to another.
