About:
This introductory programme develops foundational computing and engineering skills through hands-on robotics and block-based coding. Learners will be introduced to programming concepts such as sequencing, loops, conditionals, and debugging through practical challenges using microcontroller-based robotics systems.
Students will design and program simple robotic behaviours, learning how sensors and outputs interact to create responsive systems.
Aims:
Confidence in basic programming concepts
Understanding of inputs, outputs, and sensors
Ability to design and debug simple robotic behaviours
Collaborative problem-solving skills
Future Impact:
Funding will support teaching resources and hardware enabling continued AI and data enrichment within the school’s extracurricular programme.
Event 2:
Robotics Foundations.

Target: Y9 - Y11 disadvantaged students.

About:
This intermediate programme builds on foundational coding skills and introduces learners to embedded systems and real-world engineering applications. Students will explore how sensors, microcontrollers, and electronic systems are used in modern technology, including automotive and industrial contexts.
Learners will design and test systems that respond to environmental inputs, such as proximity detection, automated responses, and simple diagnostic feedback loops.

Understanding of embedded systems and physical computing

Development of iterative engineering design skills
Awareness of engineering careers and applications
