Friends of Connor Downs Academy

Description We are looking to boost the understanding and participation of our pupils within the ever important coding and robotics arena. 40% of our pupils live in the most deprived 0-30% of Lower Super Output Areas in England compared to 24% of pupils in Cornwall. We want to deliver a sequence of sessions that will unlock the power of robotics to these children which will help them understand how programming is used to control different outputs – in this case robots. Just like they use manipulatives in their maths lessons to support and scaffold their learning, we want to inspire them to get involved and understand that a career in programming is exciting and can be within their reach. We would like to buy a set of Smart Cutebot for micro:bit to enhance our Computing teaching and learning by providing opportunities for our pupils to program and control a robot. We already have 30 micro:bits so this would enhance and extend the opportunities we are able to provide our pupils with.
