AI Workshop - Y6

Scotts Primary School

Description Funding will be used to bring expert facilitators from Jam Coding into our school. Jam Coding will supply all necessary equipment and expertise to run a session focused on how AI tools are developed, e.g. machine learning and pattern recognition. This work shop will further enhance an existing ‘We are AI developers’ topics.

Key Educational Objectives & AI Focus
• Demystifying Artificial Intelligence: Year 6 pupils will explore the fundamentals of AI and machine learning through hands-on activities, learning how algorithms make decisions and how data and pattern recognition shapes AI.
• Practical & Creative Problem-Solving: Led by Jam Coding’s specialist instructors, children will experiment with coding and prompt-based tasks, transforming abstract concepts into interactive digital projects.
• Digital Citizenship & Critical Thinking: This session will also teach pupils how to evaluate digital content critically, address ethical considerations and use tech safely and responsibly.

Inclusivity & Equity
- Our Year 6 classes represent a diverse cohort with varying levels of digital literacy at home. Providing this workshop completely free guarantees equal access for every child, bridging the digital divide and sparking enthusiasm for STEM careers before they move on to key stage 3.
- Jam Coding is an established provider with a proven track record of delivering high-quality, safe, and DBS-checked computing workshops across primary schools.
