Coding in Clubz 2019

BOYS' AND GIRLS' CLUBS OF WALES

Description We would like to host 5 events in 5 different Boys' and Girls' Clubs within South Wales. The clubs are a safe place for young people to go to meet their friends and take part in recreation activities. However, we want to introduce the young people, to coding in a non formal environment through the support of youth workers and volunteers.

As these young people are new to coding we want to use the Lego Boost which we believe will inspire them. We then intend to introduce the raspberry pi.

We believe by using the lego boost and the raspberry pi in a youth work setting will provide a great opportunity for the young people to become inspired and take their first steps with coding.

We are a national youth work organisation that works in some of the most disadvantaged areas of Wales. We are new to providing opportunities to inspire young people to try coding though we want to inspire the next generation of young people from Wales to fulfill their potential.


The venues where each of the workshops would take place are:

Nantymoel Boys and Girls Club
Ystrad Mynach Boys' and Girls' Club
Treharris Boys' and Girls' Club
Bettws Boys' and Girls' Club
Troedyrhiw - The Willows'
