Hackathon - fitbaCODE

Midlothian Science Festival

Description The Midlothian Science Festival is a charity and we run a very popular two week long science festival across the whole of Midlothian during October and our aim is to create a festival programme that is innovative, bold and full of events & activities.

The festival has increased year on year since it started in 2012 and in 2017 the festival ran 125 events comprising both a schools programme and a public programme, reaching 8000 people. Last year the Festival was also supported by 500 volunteers.

Working with Midlothian Libraries, we hope that this event with help inspire young people and encourage further engagement with the on going library code clubs.

This event aims to describe the links between sport (football) and coding in a fun and informative manner. Helping in this regard will be Dr Areti Manataki, Senior Researcher in the School of Informatics at the University of Edinburgh, as well as volunteers from the Newbattle High School.
