Beschreibung
Cromar Future Group is a small Charity run by volunteers, aiming to make science and technology events accessible to our community in a remote part of NE Scotland. We run 3 school science clubs, a winter series of science talks, and an annual science festival.
Everything Electronics is a new youth club aimed at encouraging youngsters to learn skills in coding, robotics and electronics. We find that some are inspired to get coding by sitting at a screen but some prefer to see robots in action as a result of their efforts, so we have used both in our science clubs.
Robotical’s Marty robot can be programmed in Scratch, Python, or C++ and by adding a raspberry pi, programmers can add functionality. It also introduces them to ROS and v-rep. We see this robot as important in helping us encourage youngsters to broaden their skills.
All robot events we run, are always popular and well attended. This event aims to both get our robots built and encourage youngsters to join the Club and engage with the activities available.
Post-event we plan to challenge the Club use it for specific project challenges such as programme them to play football, to develop their skills.
