Forest Learning

Gomer Infant School

Beschreibung We would like to give all our pupils the ability to use iPad's for our forest learning. We would like to apply for this grant to allow the school to purchase an additional 2 to 5 iPad's mini.

Forest learning offers a rich inclusive environment where every child can thrive regardless of ability or background. Through hands on experiences and play through nature, children engage all their senses developing curiosity and a deeper connection to the natural world. Activities in the forest promote teamwork and perseverance as children overcome challenges to achieve a common goal. Forest learning significantly benefits mental health providing a calm restorative space that reduces anxiety, enhances mood and encourages resilience through time away from indoor pressures

The use of iPad's in Forest mornings would greatly enhance engagement, creativity, and learning opportunities while complementing the natural environment. iPad's allow children to document their discoveries through photos, videos, and voice recordings, helping them reflect on their experiences and share them with others, including their families so they can continue their learning with their families and share their interest in environmental concerns such as litter pollution and deforestation. Educational apps can support activities such as identifying plants or mini beats, encouraging curiosity and deeper investigation. For inclusive learning, tablets can offer tailored support for children with additional needs—such as text-to-speech, visual aids, or language translation—ensuring every child can participate meaningfully. Working in small groups with tablets also promotes teamwork and communication as children collaborate on tasks and projects. When used thoughtfully, pads become tools that enhance hands-on exploration rather than replace it, adding layers of learning while still allowing children to connect with nature, build resilience, and support their mental well-being.
