Beschreibung What content does the event teach?
Coding, specifically the skills of sequencing and repetition.
Computational Thinking (perseverance, debugging, logic, collaboration).
Foundations of Computer Vision & AI: Introduction to how machines read visual data from their environment to make autonomous decisions.

Which methods and resources are used to convey this content to the participants?
Pupils will work in pairs with physical Intelino smart trains and tracks for completely hands-on, tangible learning.
AI Application: Pupils will program the smart train using physical color-coded tiles. The train utilizes a built-in color sensor to detect these tiles, interpreting the data to execute specific autonomous actions (speeding up, turning, reversing). This directly demonstrates how sensor-based AI and computer vision operate in autonomous vehicles.

What are the goals of the event?
Increase early engagement in programming and autonomous technology.
Develop foundational coding skills, cause-and-effect logic, and overall attainment.
Boost the enthusiasm, confidence, and experiential background of vulnerable and disadvantaged children.

Which target group are you addressing with your event?
This all-day workshop will be accessible to the combined cohort of 60 pupils in Years 5 and 4.
It is carefully targeted to close the experience gap and raise aspirations for the 16 pupils with special educational needs (SEN) and the 18 pupils identified as disadvantaged.
We also target increased engagement for girls by framing coding around real-world, tangible transportation systems.

What makes your event special for the target group?
Educational research strongly supports using physical manipulatives to cement abstract ideas. This workshop applies that pedagogy to coding and AI logic. By introducing specialist, high-tech equipment that the school budget cannot otherwise provide, we ensure high engagement. The abundance of resources ensures every child has active, hands-on screenless coding time without waiting.

Is there any other relevant information for the target group, e.g. about registration?
The cohort includes a high proportion of pupils with English as an additional language (EAL). The physical, color-based programming language bypasses text heavy barriers, allowing these children to excel in computing.
