Beschreibung 1. What content does the event teach?

Mission Lockdown is a free, four-hour workshop introducing young people to coding, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity.
Participants work in teams to design, build and program a cyber-secure safe using LEGO Education Computer Science & AI kits.
They will learn:

* Block-based coding.
* How sensors work.
* Password and multi-factor authentication.
* How AI is trained using machine learning.
* The importance of cybersecurity.
Learning is delivered through hands-on activities, teamwork, problem-solving and practical challenges.

2. What are the goals of the event?

* Inspire young people to explore coding and AI.
* Increase confidence in using technology.
* Develop problem-solving, teamwork and communication skills.
* Introduce real-world applications of cybersecurity.
* Encourage young people to consider future STEM education and careers.
* Improve digital inclusion by giving disadvantaged young people access to high-quality STEM experiences.

3. Which target group are you addressing?

* Young people aged 10–14.
* Children with little or no coding experience.
* Young people from disadvantaged communities across Plymouth.
* Participants will be recruited through YMCA Plymouth, an independent local charity supporting children, young people and families facing disadvantage.

4. What makes your event special for the target group?

* The workshop is free, removing financial barriers.
* No previous coding experience is needed.
* Young people learn through fun, practical activities using LEGO® Education technology.
* Participants gain access to AI and robotics technology they may not otherwise experience.
* The workshop builds confidence while developing valuable digital and life skills.

5. Is there any other relevant information?

* The workshop is delivered in partnership with YMCA Plymouth to reach young people who are at greater risk of digital exclusion.
* All equipment and resources are provided free of charge.
* Sessions are led by experienced STEM educators in a supportive and inclusive environment.
* The aim is to help young people from disadvantaged backgrounds develop the confidence, skills and aspirations needed for the digital world.
